Birthday Special..

Nag-aayos lang talaga ako ng mga files ko sa PC..
Nang aking makita ang isang article na naisulat ko nung third year high school ako sa PCU..
Sa Mr. and Ms. Ecology..ehem ehemm..
Sabihin nating birthday gift ko na lang to kay boss..

Eto na...

Shy and silent – those were how I knew these persons. Vern, for instance, has been a buddy of mine back on Grade 2, and I recall him as a behaved kid and not a bully. On the other hand, Cesz, her nickname for Princess, has been one of my classmates just last year. I think of her as a young lady belonging to the simbahan part of our class, while my earsplitting and chatty classmates sitting in the palengke or the mas sosyal mall, found on the other side of our Sampa room.

It’s then somewhat hard to imagine how they became the PCU-SHS’s Mr. and Ms. Ecology 2003. It is like they’ve been transformed from one type of individual to another.

When asked if they have been to a beauty pageant-like contest before, Cesz revealed that she has been joined by her parents since Nursery and Prep. She admitted that those times are easier, because there are fewer expenses on costumes and there are no Talent and Question & Answer portions. Smiling, Vern then shared that he has never been to a pageant before, and this is his first time to be in one (Partida ba?).

They both agreed that joining the pageant was no joke, because there are lots of expenses and along with it come preparations. Aside from their classmates’ contributions, they got sources of newspapers and tin cans from collections at home, offices of their parents and some are bought. In making their costumes, which are both, made of coconut leaves by the way, their families supported and assisted them. They also had time to practice their talents every lunch and morning/afternoon breaks, so I guess they did not miss much of their lessons.

According to them, winning their titles is not really much expected, because they believe there are many talented contestants who joined the pageant. They felt pressure and tension for sure though; especially Cesz, because of the fact that one of her close friends, Gemari Bigay, was the Ms. Ecology last year, and some people expect much from her to win like Gemari.

“Duling ‘yung mga judges!” they both agreed as a joke when asked what they think is the reason why they won. But then seriously, they both pointed out that the newspapers and tin cans they collected played a big part, plus maybe their efforts and those who were behind them as well.

When asked who they think are the deserving candidates to be Mr. and Ms. Ecology if not them, Vern quickly replied that it would be Kuya Lenard Amon, because of his posture and talent, while for Cesz, she thinks it would be Ate Joan Narvaez, because she admires her beauty, smartness and talent, which is playing the guitar.

The pageant really changed them a lot, because they had more friends than before and most importantly, they both developed that confidence they once don’t had much. Through these, they then learned how to stay humble and believe in what they can do.

They both would like to thank first of all, God for the guidance and blessings, their families for aiding them all the way, friends, especially their barkadas (Einjhels & NME) and classmates for the contributions and moral support.
