Last December 8, 2007 the Peer Counselors of the Philippine Christian University Dasmariñas, Cavite Campus conducted an outreach/exposure program to the Valley Cathedral Homes Naic Cavite. An orphanage which is being run by the Valley Cathedral Ministries of Canada. This institution, with the help of the admirable dedication of the volunteers and the staff, have been housing homeless children for years and they have dramatically change the lives of countless numbers of children already.
The Peer Counselors is an organization which oath to be a friend who will listen and understand. This organization is a program under the guidance office. The org, as part of the programme, undergoes peer Counseling Training seminars and also exposures, to further widen their knowledge and understanding.
The outreach has been enjoyed both of the kids and the peer counselors with the help of the house parents. The program had been a meaningful experience for the peer counselors, they have been hugged and kissed (mwah!) by the children. For the kids only seak only love and the attention that they have longing in a family.
The house parents of the orphanage are Canadians, before coming here to the Philippines have been experiencing a luxurious life in Canada. They have given up all their wealth and even left their families to serve as parents to the parent less.
I think this is the true meaning of Christmas. And not the commercialized Santa Claus that has been inculcated in our minds by the Capitalist/Neo-Imperialist Amerikka, is only encouraging us to only comply to the materialist things, of which are only their products, that have been made in third world countries. The laborers of the third-world countries are been deprive of rights as human beings.
So tell me, What is the real meaning of Christmas?
Isang Maligayang Pasko at Mapagpalayang Bagong Taon!
