Consul Quang: Huh?
Vina: Sir, an interview regarding the key elements of economic development..
Consul Quang: no..no..(nagbigay ng calling card ng Secretary of the Ambassador..), call him.
Arianne: Sir, is he here today?
Consul Quang: Ah.. he..he.. go outside..to eat..yah..
Arianne: So can we have the interview when he return?
Consul Quang: no..no..busy..very busy..
Arianne: Can we ask for brochures, or any reading materials about Vietnam?
Consul Quang: brochure?? what is mean?
Arianne: Sir, a leaflet? or any sheet of paper that has information on it.
Consul Quang: YOU KNOW?! THIS IS THE CONSULAR OFFICE!!
Kami: (walk out..) Pissed Off!!

You see, i have nothing against those who cannot speak or understand the language of globalization..But when you are a Vietnamese and you are working here in the Philippines, i think you should be at least in-the-know of the basic terms. For Consul Quang, i hate him for this reason.
A good point in connection to his clueless conversation with us: As I see it, the use of the English language has not always been a factor for a country to experience progress. Take Japan for example, the people in there almost knew nothing about English terms, and yet their country is well-developed. There are thousands of Filipinas working in Japan, but before they set their feet in the land of the rising sun, firstly, they have to know how to speak Nippongo or (there's another one) . The logic here is that they are the "dayo". they are the ones who should adjust and learn the local languange. Sa Pilipinas baligtad. When we see those Kano here in our country, we speak their language. We see Koreans, we say "Anyong ha seyo.." (tama ba ung spelling?). We see those Hapons, we say "Arigato" whatever.
So tomorrow, we're going to interview the diplomats of Canada and Australia. Hay, hope they could understand us this time.
